Dibsido is a workplace booking platform for hybrid teams: desks, parking, meeting rooms and office services in one app. The Dibsido app for Slack lets your team book desks and parking spots, see who is coming in and receive their booking notifications without leaving Slack.

What Dibsido for Slack does

Book a desk with a slash command. Type /dibs desk today or /dibs desk monday and Dibsido reserves your favorite desk and confirms it in a reply only you can see.
Book a parking spot just as fast. Type /dibs parking tomorrow or /dibs parking monday and your spot is reserved. No spreadsheets, no morning e-mails asking who is driving in.
See who is coming in. /dibs whosin tuesday lists the colleagues who have booked the office for that day.
Manage your bookings from the Home tab. Open the Dibsido app in your Slack sidebar to see today's desk and parking status, tomorrow's plan and a weekly occupancy chart, with one-tap check-in and cancel. "Browse Map" opens the interactive floor plan in your browser when you want to pick a specific desk.
Get every notification as a direct message. Confirmations, changes, cancellations, check-in reminders, waiting-list alerts and a daily summary arrive as DMs from the Dibsido bot.

The Slack app covers desk and parking booking, the Home tab and notifications. Everything else in Dibsido, such as meeting rooms, floor-plan editing and administration, lives in the web and mobile apps, one tap away from the Home tab.

How it works in Slack

Commands

/dibs desk today books your default desk for today.
/dibs desk monday (any weekday) books your default desk for that day.
/dibs parking tomorrow or /dibs parking monday books your parking spot for that day.
/dibs whosin or /dibs whosin tuesday shows who is booked for today or for that day.
or just /dibs alone.

Home tab

Open the Dibsido app in the Slack sidebar. The Home tab shows today's desk and parking status, tomorrow's plan and a weekly occupancy chart, and offers Check in, Cancel and Browse Map. No commands needed. Buttons open a Slack dialog; nothing is posted to any channel.

What triggers a message from Dibsido

Every message is a direct message to the person it concerns. Dibsido sends one when:

a desk or parking booking of yours is created, changed or cancelled, by you or by an admin;
a desk or parking spot you were waiting for is released or booked for you automatically;
a check-in reminder is due, or a booking expired because it was not confirmed;
your daily summary time arrives (each user sets their own time or turns it off);
reception has news for you: a visitor has arrived or a package was delivered;
for admins only: a booking conflict was detected or an employee reported an issue.

What the app does not do

It reads only the /dibs commands and button clicks addressed to it. It does not read channels, direct messages or message history, and it requests no permission that would allow it to.
It never posts to channels. All messages are direct messages from the Dibsido bot.
It does not store the text of your commands. Commands are processed to perform the action and discarded.

Install Dibsido for Slack

The Add to Slack button lives inside Dibsido, because a Slack workspace is always connected to a specific Dibsido company. Open Dibsido settings, sign in as an administrator, open General and then the Notifications tab. Installation takes about two minutes.

Have a Dibsido account. No Dibsido yet? Start a free trial, no credit card needed. The Slack app is included in every plan, including the free one.
Sign in to Dibsido as an administrator. Only a Dibsido admin can connect a Slack workspace. Once connected, every colleague can use it.
Turn on the notification toggles. In Dibsido go to Settings, open General and then the Notifications tab, and switch the notification toggles on.
Click "Add Dibsido to Slack". The button appears once the toggles are on. Click it and complete the Slack authorization. Slack shows the permissions the app requests (listed below). Approve, and Slack sends you back to Dibsido.
Choose the daily overview. With the workspace connected, decide whether your company sends a daily reservation overview, and at what time.
Check that everyone was matched. Dibsido pairs Slack members with Dibsido users by e-mail address (primary e-mail or login alias). If someone was not matched, open "Manage Slack users" on the same page and enter their Slack member ID, or click "Synchronize users with Slack".
Start booking. Type /dibs desk today or /dibs parking tomorrow in any message box, or open the Dibsido Home tab. Each colleague decides in My Preferences whether they want to receive Slack notifications, and can set their own daily summary time there.

Permissions the app requests, and why

chat:write. Send booking confirmations, reminders, waiting-list and check-in alerts, daily summaries and reception or admin alerts as direct messages to the user they concern.
im:write. Open the direct-message conversation with a user before the first message is sent. The app never posts to channels.
commands. Provide the /dibs slash command for desk and parking booking and office attendance.
users:read. List workspace members during installation and when an admin clicks "Synchronize users", to link them to Dibsido accounts.
users:read.email. Match members to Dibsido accounts by e-mail. The address is compared and discarded, not stored.

The app requests no permission to read channels, message history or files.

Privacy and data

Dibsido for Slack stores your Slack workspace ID and name, the access token Slack issues to the app, and for each linked user their Slack member ID and notification preferences. It does not store members' e-mail addresses, the content of commands, or any channel messages. Slack data is deleted immediately when the Dibsido company account is deleted; to disconnect Slack earlier, remove the app from your Slack workspace and write to support@dibsido.com and we will delete the stored Slack data.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a paid Dibsido plan to use the Slack app?

No. The Slack app is included in every Dibsido plan, including the free plan and the 14-day trial.

Can I book meeting rooms from Slack?

No. The Slack app covers desks and parking. Meeting rooms are booked in the Dibsido web and mobile apps.

Which permissions does the app request?

Five: chat:write, im:write, commands, users:read and users:read.email. See the list above for what each one is used for.

Does the app read my messages?

No. It only receives the /dibs commands and button clicks you send to it. It has no permission to read channels or conversations.

Can I remove the app later?

Yes. Remove it from Slack under Apps, or turn the notification toggles off in Dibsido under Settings, then General, then Notifications. Your Dibsido bookings are not affected. To have the stored Slack identifiers deleted, contact support@dibsido.com.
